F is for Fitness. For a healthier body and according to one of my swimming instructors: in fitness, food is not an enemy but a nourishment.
I woke up early today to go for a swim. I’m trying my very best to make it a habit to exercise every day or every other day. My alarm usually starts at 5:30 but I really wake up at around 7 AM, which is ironic thinking that I set it at 5:30. Today as it started to snooze, I opened my eyes and get prepped myself up for the swim. I usually wash up before a swim and took a pee and there it was– a living proof that I am still a woman, the first trickle of blood. Okay. That was weird.
I got my period so I really can’t go on swimming. Recently, my office mates and I took some swimming lessons. I nearly drowned when I was a kid and relaxing at swimming is somewhat difficult; hence, I really don’t know how to swim properly. This is somewhat part of my planned plan of becoming healthier this 2014. According to my BMI (Body Mass Index), my height to weight ratio is still good and I am not yet overweight. I also took some fitness calculation and the culprit is in my body fat– it’s a little bit high than the recommended body fat.
Fitness or being healthy is not a one swift blow, it’s a process. Doing exercise, swimming and eating healthy foods in one day won’t lower everything overnight. It’s a lifestyle and it takes a lot of responsibility from one’s self to be persistent and disciplined enough to say “NO” to unhealthy foods and run that extra mile, or even get yourself out of the bed for an exercise.
As for now, I need to find some light activities to do while on my period.
