This 2015, I want to share with you what the books I’ve enjoyed so far and what are my thoughts about them.
I love books because they give me a chance to use my imagination. To dream of a different life, a different adventure away from my safe haven, to experience things as if it were my own. Books can give me that awesome feeling of happiness, horror, suspense and can take me to places I’ve never been and meet great people that I may never meet in real life. Each story gives me a different experience, a different feeling that makes me who I am today and made my perception of life a little better. There are lessons that only books can show me and as much as I could, I try to apply them into my life.
Before 2014 ended, I found the second book of Khaled Hosseini entitled A Thousand Splendid Suns. I bought it because I really do love how his first book, The Kite Runner, made me feel all those extreme emotions. I cried more than four times in The Kite Runner, maybe I’m just too emotional at that time or I just have those over sensitive heart. Well, I got the second book and hoped that it will transport me into the world Hosseini created in this book.
After reading a book, I usually scribble on my book about what the story had taught me or what are the things I’ve learned from it. In this way, it will remind me of a great story that I read. It’s part of the experience. As for A Thousand Splendid Suns, here’s what I’ve written.
Here’s the citation on it.
I definitely love this book. It’s heartbreaking. For the record, I cried four times in this one, same with the kite runner. Maybe, I’m just too emotional, or I really got an over sensitive tear glands.
This is about life and its struggles, love and its sacrifices, war and its sufferings. This book taught me a lot of lessons and gave me a chance to see the sufferings of others and of how well they survived all of them. Hoping for more books from this great author!
I hope this great book would open all our eyes about the struggles of war and that it will never be an answer to any problem. The life of those women in war torn areas are definitely not easy but I’m hoping that people would realize that there are a lot of Mariam and Laila in those places. They are suffering, together with their loved ones and I hope it will give them inspiration to seek peace not war.
This is a great book, I hope a lot of people would be able to read this one and learn a lot of things from it.
