One time, I had this conversation with Sugarplum where in I was happily sharing about a blogger who chose a certain kind of job to pursue his/her writing. I also shared about another blogger/writer who can’t seem to write when he/she takes a job. He then throw me a question about my own writing plans.
“What about you? What kind of job will you take to pursue your writing?”
I was caught off guard by his question because I haven’t thought of it lately. I left the corporate world due to some circumstances and opportunities that were out of my hand. I told myself that I will seize this opportunity to be able to pursue my writing but I’m still falling behind schedule, my posting habit is still the same and I sometimes feel that I’m beginning to be a workaholic even though I am currently working at home.
What kind of job will I take? I’m not sure how to answer this one. I love my current job, I can’t think of myself not programming or developing something in the next 5 or 10 years. This is the opportunity that I wasn’t able to enjoy in the last three years in the corporate world– doing something which can make me happy. I know that over time or over working is a big part in software development. Spec change, shortened schedules and all the hassle of change that can make or break anyone’s take on a certain project do happen. Welcome to the real world of development, where what you know now can change in the next 30 minutes.
Well, I guess I would still do my best to juggle writing and programming. It’s a tough world outside and opportunities like these things doesn’t come knocking on my doorstep everyday, it took me three years to get where I am now. I can’t think of a better job for me as of the moment but we (Sugarplum and I) are also starting on our small business and other income generating escapade which might help us in one way or another be financially independent.
I still can’t give up my career but who knows what’s in store for me in the near future. I can’t give up my career (yet) but travelling, cooking and adventures are appealing to me. I also dream of writing near a beach and with a cold beer to complete it. Enjoying the good life.
I would do my best to update this blog regularly, maybe once a week or once a month. By the way, I also have another blog in which I update regularly, more regular than this one, it’s my travel, food and fashion blog– Cooking Stilettos. Please do follow the blog if you want to be updated about my writing and my adventures!
Thank you very much for the subscribe and I still hope that I can give you some sort of inspiration to do something that you really love. Spread the love.
